Wondering about telephone engineer
I often wonder how people get to where they are in a moment in time. I don’t mean from a geographical, transportation oriented way, but in a more existential sense. I, for example, have always done the same thing. I’m essentially on the same career path that I’ve always been on. I wonder if more practical people with what I call grown up jobs have the same experience. I try to picture the average telephone engineer as a child. Did he always have a fascination with how the concept of telecommunications works? Was he as delighted to see the advent of fiber optics as I was to find out that I could watch whole seasons of television shows at one time? Did he squeal with a delight when his first design both adhered to the laws of physics and worked? There’s probably a lot more to that then just those things. I just wonder about it.
